The Waukee Community Schools Foundation is kicking off the 2021-22 school year with a first in Foundation history. Every employee within the Waukee Community School District is now invited to apply for a Foundation grant. Previously, only teachers were able to apply for funding. “Every role in the district ultimately impacts the student experience and, as a result, the Foundation stands with every role as a resource and an advocate,” said Adrianne Towe, Executive Director of the Foundation.

WCSD employees, in partnership with their supervisor or principal, can apply to receive a grant impacting the classrooms, school offices or break rooms, counseling or activity spaces, lunchrooms, hallways, playgrounds, or any of the behind-the-scenes efforts that make the school day possible. “The goal is to enhance the school and work experience through each and every WCSD employee,” said Towe.

Additionally, WCSD students are also eligible to apply for funding, in partnership with a WCSD employee. Towe said students are not only leaders of tomorrow, but they are leaders right now. “We want all students to know that they have a voice that deserves to be heard, and ideas that matter.”

The Foundation is focused on three priority outcome areas: Innovation, Wellness, and Sense of Belonging. Grant requests that aim to advance these outcome areas will be given priority. The Foundation looks forward to supporting the next big ideas to strengthen our already-great schools, students, and employees.

“We know every WCSD employee and student encounters challenges and opportunities that create space for creativity and innovation to enhance the student and employee experience,” said Towe. The Foundation believes expanding our grants program speaks directly to our mission: to empower every Waukee District student to achieve their aspirations by enhancing their educational experience.

Grant applications are open on our website now and will be reviewed every other month throughout the year. Please click here to apply for funding.  Questions about the grants process may be directed to WCSF Executive Director Adrianne Towe at
