I am so thankful for receiving foundation funds to attend the Central States Conference of the Teaching of Foreign Languages last spring.  I got to learn and collaborate with teachers from the 16 states in our region about performance assessments, interactive notebooks and world-readiness standards for world languages.  I am the elected Advocacy Chair for the Iowa World Language Association and I was able to attend the Delegate Assembly with the other advocates to discuss how to better world language education and collaboration across our region. This kind of professional development is so valuable.  In my free time I visited a Mayan Cultural exhibit at a nearby museum and found more resources to teach in my Spanish classroom.
