Our Foundation Grants program is open to all students, educators, employees, and registered parent organizations within the WCSD. Grants must impact the classroom, school, or workplace experience for students and/or employees. The Foundation prioritizes grant requests that align to our three priority outcome areas: Innovation, Wellness, and Sense of Belonging.
Innovation: A willingness to take risks, disrupt the norm, and respond to change with creativity and solutions.
Wellness: elevate the social, emotional, mental, and physical wellness of students and employees across the district.
Sense of Belonging: Create environments and experiences that establish a strong sense that all students and employees are seen, heard, known, understood, and safe.
Guidelines
- All grant requests are reviewed with WCSD leadership prior to approval. Any request that does not align to District policies and processes will not be approved.
- The Foundation does not award grants in support of travel, lodging, conferences, trips, or competitions.
- The Foundation does not award grant dollars in support of book requests, but may pursue in-kind donations.
- The Foundation does not provide funds in support of student, club, or team fundraisers.
- The Foundation does not award grants for District-wide or multi-building standardization for a previously awarded program, project, experience, or equipment.
- All applications over $2,000 require a meeting with the Foundation’s Executive Director prior to the application submission.
- The Foundation will not grant professional development requests directly from educators. All professional development requests must be routed through the Associate Superintendents before being submitted to the Foundation.
- Grant requests from organizations external to the Waukee Community School District will not be considered for funding.
Review & Approval Timelines
- Grant applications under $2,000 are reviewed and feedback, approvals, or decline notices happen monthly.
- Grant applications over $2,000 are reviewed and presented for approval to our Board of Directors during bi-monthly meetings on the third Wednesday of the following months: August, October, December, February, April, and June. Applications must be received by the first day of the aforementioned months to be reviewed that month. Any applications received after the first of the aforementioned months will be reviewed at the following board meeting.
