Winter Gear Savings

Good news: We recently purchased $13,000 worth of winter gear, and only spent $3,000! We are taking over the winter gear program for the District and decided to shift purchasing to the Spring because everything is on clearance, making our dollars will go farther, which translates to more kids being served.

Dozens (and dozens!) of jackets, parkas, snow pants, hats, gloves, boots, and snowsuits will be distributed to students who need the gear in the fall. "We aim to be thoughtful and strategic in everything we do," said Adrianne Towe, Executive Director of the Foundation. "The dollars people have entrusted us with will go farther, kids will get what they need before it gets cold--not after, and by using our slower time of year to prepare this initiative, we can be more responsive to other needs during our busiest times in the fall and winter."

This purchase of winter gear was made through the Foundation's Financial Hardship Fund, which is set up to support the most immediate and critical needs of our students while they are in our school buildings.
